Clinical Features

  • Symptoms:
    • Asymptomatic
    • Decreased vision if involved visual axis
  • Signs: single or multiple dendrite-like epithelial or subepithelial lesions
  • Can be secondary to:
    • Contact lens wear
    • Recurrent corneal erosion from anterior basement membrane dystrophy, stromal dystrophy or previous corneal trauma including healing corneal abrasion
    • Herpetic dendrite scar
  • In contact lens related cases, the lesion may disappear during cessation of contact lens wear.

Management

  • Observation.
  • Lubrication.
  • In contact lens related cases, the lesion may disappear during cessation of contact lens wear.
