Hydrodissection
- Hydrodissection is a technique to separate the lens nucleus from the cortex and the capsule by injecting fluid, under the anterior capsule leaflet
- A fluid wave can be seen as the balance salt solution (BSS) passes between the nucleus and cortex
- Following cortical-capsular separation during hydrodissection, the fluid may trapped posteriorly resulting in anterior displacement of the lens in the capsular bag
- The nucleus can then be rotated within the capsular bag at the conclusion of these steps
- In hydrodelineation the irrigation fluid is injected into the mass of the nucleus to achieve a separation of epinucleus from the harder inner nuclear material
- A "golden ring" sign may be seen
