Capsulorrhexis
- Capsulorrhexis is initiated by creating an anterior capsule flap
- The center of the anterior capsule is first punctured using a cystotome or a bent needle and then swept in a curvilinear fashion to create a large capsular flap
- The capsular flap is pulled and lifted at its edge
- A continuous tear capsulorrhexis is then performed by shearing the capsular flap using a forceps in a circular fashion
- A circular capsulorrhexis is evident on red reflex
