Retinal Detachment
- Usually classified into :
- Rhegmatogenous detachment
- Tractional detachment
- Exudative detachment
Symptoms
- Blurry or various degree of decreased visual acuity
- Visual field loss
- Photopsia (subjective visualization of flashing lights)
- Some conditions or pathologies that may predispose to retinal detachments are: trauma, cataract extraction, ora bays, meridional folds, cystic retinal tufts, lattice degeneration and retinoschisis.
Risk Factors
- Myopic eyes
- Family history of retinal detachment
- Vitreoretinal syndrome such as Stickler's syndrome
- Aphakia
