Meesmann's
- Autosomal dominantly inherited and also called juvenile hereditary epithelial dystrophy.
Clinical Features
- Symptoms:
- Foreign body sensation due to epithelial erosion may occur as the cysts begin to rupture onto the ocular surface
- Decreased visual acuity is usually minimal
- Signs:
- Myriads of tiny intraepithelial cysts that are most prominently seen in the interpalpebral zone
- Slowly progressive rare condition
- Bilateral, symmetric and may develops in the first 1 or 2 years of life
Treatment
- Superficial corneal debridement
- Photo therapeutic keratectomy maybe required in patient with severe recurrent erosions or reduced visual function.
