Senile Scleral Plaque
- Normally occur in elderly people (after age 70).
- Previously regarded as a focal hyalinization of the sclera.
Clinical Features
- Symptoms: have no clinical significance
- Signs:
- Bilateral, symmetric, sharply demarcated vertically ovoid, or sometimes rectangular zones of increased scleral translucency
- Commonly situated just in front of the medial and lateral recti
- It may undergo calcification and become opaque white
