Meet Our Fellows
Administrative Fellows (2024 - 2025)
Elizabeth (Lizzy) Tsuang, MHA
- Administrative Fellow, People and Organizational Development, Medicine, Pathology, Orthopedics, OBGYN, Neurology
Elizabeth (Lizzy) Tsuang is a Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) graduate from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health. As a Los Angeles native, Lizzy graduated Cum Laude from UCLA with a Bachelor of Arts in Human Biology and Society and a minor in Global Health and Medicine/Public Health. After college, she helped manage California-based hospitalist and intensivist programs as an Associate Business Line Manager, where she gained experience with inpatient clinical operations, process improvement, provider relations, patient satisfaction, and quality reporting and benchmarking. Lizzy then moved to NYC to earn her MHA at Columbia. As part of her graduate program, Lizzy completed an Administrative Internship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, where she learned more about ambulatory operations and worked on projects based in access optimization, operational metrics, and dashboard implementation.
Lizzy is thrilled to continue her journey with Columbia this year as an Administrative Fellow. She is drawn to Columbia’s commitment to high quality, equitable, and compassionate patient care. Lizzy looks forward to applying her experiences on both the inpatient and outpatient side, learning more about how Columbia advances its tripartite mission to serve its communities, and contributing her interdisciplinary interests in media and design. When Lizzy isn’t on the Columbia campus, she can be found practicing hot yoga, running a dog sitting business, or finding the best slice in NYC.
Sydney Powell, MPH
- Administrative Fellow, People and Organizational Development, Vice Dean of Administration, FPO, Neurology, and OBGYN
Sydney Powell grew up in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania. She earned Bachelor of Science degrees in both Biology and Public Health from Lehigh University where she fostered her passion for alleviating health disparities and improving access to health care for marginalized populations. During the first two months of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sydney worked with local government representatives, hospital administrators, and business-owners to secure PPE and provide hot meals to hundreds of healthcare workers and essential staff. Also during this time, Sydney founded her own non-profit organization, Health Summit, to disseminate pertinent public health information and fundraise for existing public health programs and clinics. She recently earned her Master of Public Health degree from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health where she studied the Sociomedical Sciences and earned a certificate in Health Policy and Practice. While there, she completed her practicum at a civil rights law firm where she researched the public health effects of policing practices and determined the prevalence of injuries that are sustained during civilian encounters with law enforcement. During her fellowship at VP&S, Sydney will be rotating with Organizational Development, Vice Dean of Administration, FPO, Neurology, and OBGYN. She is eager to learn and work alongside renowned faculty who are committed to enhancing health systems and expanding high quality care. During her free time, Sydney enjoys traveling, Pilates classes, and listening to True Crime podcasts.
