About Us
The Center and Our Mission

Who We Are
We are a community of researchers and practitioners working in partnership with birthing individuals and their families to enhance how we approach perinatal care and achieve better outcomes for parents-to-be and their babies. Our interdisciplinary community includes psychologists and other mental health specialists, obstetricians, neuroscientists, doulas, midwives, community leaders, and pediatricians.
What We Do
We are a research-to-practice center that leverages our decades of perinatal research, mental health expertise, and cross-sector collaborations to create, disseminate, and elevate a range of accessible resources and tools that support those in the transition to parenthood and those serving their needs. Through a multi-dimensional approach, we achieve the following:
- Amplify the profound psychological journey of becoming a parent
- Demonstrate that parenting begins before birth — the link between maternal mental health and child outcomes
- Develop a Blueprint for enhanced perinatal care
- House a digital repository of nationwide Resources for perinatal health professionals and those they serve
- Create, disseminate, and elevate tools to support the communities supporting parents-to-be
- Foster a network of leaders in the perinatal field that shares information and grows community
- Promote innovative research and services in the TtP through an annual small-grants program
