Research

The AI Research Workgroup is dedicated to advancing the scientific foundations of artificial intelligence in healthcare, exploring novel methodologies, and pushing the boundaries of what AI can achieve in clinical and operational settings. This workgroup brings together interdisciplinary experts across VP&S to work towards the following strategic goals:
- Lead in fundamental research in AI for biomedicine and health
- Lead in research at intersection of AI and health
- Facilitate and foster research for VP&S community
There are numerous challenges involved in building a comprehensive and collaborative research environment around AI in healthcare. The AI Research Workgroup intends to build both a computing infrastructure and a federated learning infrastructure so that collaboration can occur both inside and outside Columbia University. They will help identify common challenges, work to break down silos, and build towards a successful translation of AI research to the wide breadth of clinicians at VP&S.
