About Us

The Center of Excellence for Sleep & Circadian Research at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) integrates clinicians and researchers across our campuses to provide a platform for interactions that will foster new avenues and collaborations for research, clinical care, and education. Directed by Marie-Pierre St-Onge, PhD, CCSH, FAHA, the Center is comprised of medical doctors and researchers studying sleep and circadian rhythms in relation to chronic disease prevention and treatment, including diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, cognitive function, as well as health and well-being in both adults and children.

At the heart of the Center’s collaborative program is a commitment to bringing together clinicians and researchers to further understand the impact of sleep and circadian biology on health. The goal is to bring awareness to sleep and circadian rhythms as one of the primary pillars of health, alongside diet and physical activity. Our investigators and clinicians also study how we can improve sleep in those with poor sleep and sleep disorders to better their overall health.
