Student Research Programs
Student Research at VP&S offers a range of research opportunities, at home and abroad, that span the full MD student cycle, and that adapt to the students’ timeline and needs, including: Summer Research opportunities (optional), Scholarly Projects (3-4th year, required), Research Electives (D&I) and Research Year (optional, usually take between the 3rd and 4th year).
Student Research at VP&S offers a range of research opportunities to rising second year students who wish to spend their first summer while in Medical School researching a topic of their interest.
Summer Research Program
The Scholarly Projects Program (SPP) links medical students with faculty mentors to explore an area of medical practice or research with the aim of creating new knowledge.
Scholarly Projects
VP&S students are allowed to take up to three months for research electives in the D&I senior portion of the curriculum.
Research Electives in D&I
Some VP&S students choose to take a year off from the core curriculum to pursue their research interests, usually, during the senior D&I phase of the curriculum.
Research Year
