Curriculum
Our curriculum is innovative and challenging, supporting students in the development of skills necessary to not only successfully practice as a genetic counselor but also to lay the foundation for them to participate in the advancement of the profession after graduation.
Students are supported through our curricular design in developing the skills and qualities to recognize and meet the needs of clients from diverse backgrounds with inclusive care, and to address the individual, institutional, and systemic factors that contribute to existing healthcare disparities. Topics embedded across courses include:
- Implicit biases in healthcare
- Racism in healthcare
- LGBTQIA+ healthcare
- Social determinants of health (SDOH)
- Systemic injustice in healthcare
