Center for Patient Safety Science

Patient Care

The Center for Patient Safety Science is committed to supporting the operations of ColumbiaDoctors. The Center's patient care and quality work will include internal and external initiatives, including:

  • Providing support for the design, implementation, and evaluation of patient safety projects based on the most common trends and challenges in patient safety at CUIMC.
  • Encouraging alignment of faculty patient safety research endeavors with leading patient safety priorities at Columbia
  • Advising the Chief Medical Officer and Chief Quality Officer on best practices in quality and safety to guide improvement efforts across CUIMC locations, departments, and services
  • Supporting the implementation and analysis of an annual safety culture survey
  • Advise on the implementation of predictive models to prevent patient safety events
  • Assist with the external review process of quality and patient safety processes at CUIMC, as well as an annual review of all patient safety policies and procedures to ensure best-in-class performance.
