The Columbia Cornell Obesity Medicine course provides a thorough overview of obesity medicine and obesity research. Topics include nutrition, lifestyle, behavior change, case management, pharmacological and surgical treatment options, pregnancy and pre-pregnancy, and obesity across patient populations from children to older adults. This course is aimed at all health professionals: physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and more.

The VP&S Office for Research and the Zuckerman Institute in collaboration with the Vagelos Institute’s PhD Pathway are pleased to offer an in-person three-part NIH Fellowship Award info session series for those applying for the upcoming April 8th deadline. Session 1 will introduce you to the NIH Fellowship Award and what your first steps should be when developing your application. Session 2 will dive into putting together a compelling research proposal, from your aims to your research strategy and other key research documents. Session 3 will help you scope out your training goals and activities for the Fellowship Award. Editing services will be available for VP&S trainees. Program Overview
 VIRTUAL CONFERENCE Updates on recent advances and optimal management of kidney transplantation in a one-day course. Video Access All registrants will be sent access to lecture video recordings. Learning Objectives -Understanding the disparities and challenges in kidney transplantation among Hispanic populations. -Examine the role of pancreas transplantation in the management of type 2 diabetes. -Understanding the progress and challenges in xenotransplantation. -Identifying non-invasive biomarkers for post-transplant monitoring to improve patient outcomes. -Exploring belatacept as a maintenance immunosuppressive therapy in kidney transplant recipients. -Discussing the evolving field of multi-organ transplantation. -Exploring the role of robotic-assisted surgery in kidney transplantation and the potential benefits. -Discussing how genetic information can inform transplant decisions and improve patient care. -Understanding the impact of CMV infection on transplant outcomes and discussing novel therapy options for CMV infection. -Learning about strategies and best practices to improve organ utilization and reduce organ wastage. -Discuss a monitoring plan for early detection of recurrent IgA nephropathy, FSGS and membranous nephropathy in post-transplant patients. Collectively, these learning objectives aim to advance the field of kidney transplantation by addressing key challenges, exploring innovative solutions, and ultimately improving the lives of patients in need of life-saving organ transplants.
