Message From the Chair
Welcome to the Department of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery at Columbia University, where our dynamic and growing clinical and research programs encompass all aspects of ear, nose, throat, and head and neck care. Our staff is dedicated to providing exceptional care for our patients and continually improving that care through research discoveries and innovations. We are equally committed to educating the next generation of specialists in otolaryngology.
World-class patient care and quality service are at the very core of our mission. Our nationally recognized faculty and superb administrative and clinical teams collaborate to provide comprehensive, personalized care for local, national, and international patients. From routine ear infections to complex head and neck cancers, we are fully committed to quality and service at every level of patient care.
Columbia University is known around the world for its unmatched research environment. The Department of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery is integrated with many of the basic science departments on campus, with joint programs in engineering, neuroscience, and cancer biology. Our growing research faculty is committed to pushing the boundaries of basic and translational science in these areas, with the involvement of clinicians at all levels.
We are equally proud of our educational training program. The otolaryngology residency—a joint program with Weill Cornell Medicine and associated with the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center—offers one of the nation’s premier training environments. With its outstanding mix of clinical education, research exposure, and academic opportunity, the program is as suitable for those interested in pursuing an academic career as it is for those who wish to become private practitioners.
These are exciting times for the Columbia Department of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery. As we grow, we will continue to emphasize the three pillars of our mission: outstanding clinical service, excellent education, and ground-breaking research. Thank you for visiting our department, and we welcome you to make an appointment with us at one of our many locations.
