David T.K. Huang Application Details

Thank you for your interest in the David T.K. Huang Memorial Scholarship Opportunity.

The David T.K. Huang Memorial Scholarship is a three-part application process, which includes the submission of the Guidance Counselor Nomination Form, the Application Form, and (2) Letters of Recommendation. At this time the application is closed, please check back in the fall.

1. Guidance Counselor Nominations Form 

• Guidance Counselors should submit the Nominations Form before or after the student's Application Form submission. 
• Guidance Counselors are welcome to submit up to 10 nominees.
• Nominations should be made on behalf of graduating High School seniors enrolled in New York City and surrounding counties on track to graduate in 2023.

2. The Application Form

For applications to be considered complete, a submission should include the following items (*Please note that all of these application items should be submitted in one sitting*): 

• Official High School Transcript (include first and last name on the PDF file)
• FAFSA/SAR Form (include first and last name on the PDF file)
• Official Copy of ACT or SAT scores (optional)
• The names and contact information of (2) recommenders: a Teacher and a Community Service Supervisor or Administrator (Family members are not qualified recommenders)
• Essay component: Please upload one PDF that responds to both essay prompts (1/2 page, single-spaced for each question, no heading, write first and last name in PDF file)​

Essay Prompts:

a) How will I use my talents to serve my community today and in the future?

b)  Please indicate any unique background, qualities, or atypical circumstances you would like the Committee to consider regarding your application. ​

Note to applicants: Please have the email addresses of confirmed recommenders before starting the Application Form. The first recommender should be a teacher; the second recommender should be someone familiar with your work in community service, such as a volunteer supervisor, clergy member, or representative from a community agency. Recommenders should submit their letters using the Qualtrics link to be provided by the David Huang Scholarship Committee.
