Black and Latino Student Organization (BALSO) Alumni Network

We are committed to the well-being and success of all community members. Columbia complies with all applicable civil rights laws and does not engage in illegal preferences or discrimination. 

The purpose of the BALSO Alumni Network is to provide a supportive and culturally enriching network for current, past, and future BALSO members that helps them to identify, understand, and solve the complex healthcare issues facing Black and Latinx communities. New members are welcome. 

Network Goals

  • Aid and encourage BALSO members during their studies
  • Support professional and cultural identity development of students and alumni as Black and Latinx healthcare providers
  • Amplify and advance the commitment of VP&S and the College of Dental Medicine to increase enrollment of Black and Latinx students.
  • Engage in meaningful dialogue and close cooperation with BALSO members and the administration, including:
    • The Senior -Associate Dean for Diversity and Multicultural Affairs
    • The CDM Office of Access, Equity, and Inclusion
    • The Columbia University Black Alumni Council
  • Provide counsel, exposure, and insight about postgraduate careers using our resources as People of Color.
