Stanley Chang, MD Receives 2024 AAO Laureate Award
The Department is proud to announce that Stanley Chang, MD, has received the prestigious 2024 Laureate Recognition Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO). Dr. Chang is the former Edward S. Harkness Professor and Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at Columbia University Medical Center, and he currently holds the K.K. Tse and Ku Teh Ying Professorship in Ophthalmology. This award is the AAO's highest honor, recognizing Dr. Chang’s significant contributions to the field of ophthalmology, particularly in retinal surgery and medical innovation.
Dr. Chang has been a pioneer in vitreoretinal surgery, advancing techniques that have greatly improved patient outcomes. His research has led to important advancements in the management of complex retinal conditions, and he has been a dedicated mentor to countless trainees and professionals.
