Postdoctoral Fellowship Program
From 2018-2019 the Wu Family China Center sponsored a Pilot Award and Postdoctoral Fellow training program with the goal of stimulating collaborative research between the Columbia University's Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons (VP&S) and Zhejiang University's School of Medicine (ZUSM). Research projects could be basic, clinical/translational, or epidemiological in nature and should address disease processes of importance to population health. Pilot Awards were given in 2018 and 2019 along with support for a Postdoctoral Fellow from ZUSM to train at VP&S for up to one year. Utpal Pajvani, MD, PhD, Associate Professor of Medicine at VP&S, and Chengfu Xu, MD, Associate Professor in the Department of Gastroenterology at ZUSM, were the co-recipients of the 2019 pilot program award. Dr. Meng Li, a postdoctoral fellow from the laboratory of Dr. Xu, will spend a year (2023-2024) investigating Notch signaling pathways in liver disease in the laboratory of Dr. Pajvani.
The Post-Doctoral Fellowship Program was reimagined in 2022 to expand the collaboration beyond ZUSM to other institutions in Greater China. In 2023 ADARC at Columbia welcomed our first Wu Center fellow from Hong Kong University, a clinician working in the laboratory of Dr. Ho to build skills to apply to SARS-CoV-2 related projects.
